47 to be retired

 August 6 will be a day forever remembered for Tom Glavine. The Atlanta Braves have announced that they will induct Tom Glavine into the Braves Hall of Fame also retire his number, 47. His number will be the seventh to had been retired by the Braves. He joins elite company that includes Hank Aaron (44), Eddie Matthews (41), Greg Maddux (31), Warren Spahn (21), Phil Niekro (35), and Dale Murphy (3). Greg Maddux had his number retired last year. Tom Glavine will always be connected in bringing the city of Atlanta its first pro championship, when he pitched the series clinching game against the Indians in the 1995 World Series. Tom Glavine finished his career with 305 victories which is fourth all-time among left-handed pitchers. He finished his career with an ERA of 3.54 while collecting 2 Cy Young awards and being selected in eight all-star games also was chosen as the 1995 World Series MVP.
